Unsuccessful Audition Campaign
The Unsuccessful Audition Campaign is a real ad campaign for the Morris Animal Foundation, created to run with the Colorado Ballet, whose audience closely mirrored the Foundation's. The concept has companion animals audition for iconic ballet roles: a crowned cat for the Mouse King, a tutu-clad pup for Toto, and a tiara-topped dog for Princess Aurora, none of whom get the part. Each poster turns that gentle rejection into a call to action: "We couldn't make their dream of becoming a ballet dancer come true, but we can help them have a longer, healthier life." As designer and creative director, I developed the visual identity and art-directed the portrait photography, costuming each pet and pairing the shots with bold, playbill-style type and soft pastel palettes so every poster reads like a genuine audition notice.
